Mescal
Grown in the warmer Oaxaca region of Mexico, Mescal is derived from a different type of agave than Tequila. Characteristically it is common to have smoky flavour and is often sweetened with fruit, herbs and nuts to make it more palatable.
What about the "worm"? The worm was traditionally placed in Mescal, not Tequila. The Mescal worm is harmless and, despite innuendoes, does not contain hallucinogens. Today, the worm is just a sales gimmick. Scorpion anyone?
